There are many ways through which you can send Free SMS to Mobile phones using the internet. Most of them are based on using third-party services which append a text advertisement after your message thus effectively reducing the 160 char limit in SMS to around 80 only.

Here, I’ll share with you a method of sending a FREE SMS without any ads! You can send this SMS to anywhere in India and it would contain just the message and nothing else. You get ful 160 chars like a normal SMS.

How to Send FREE SMS without ADS

This is possible using a recently launched website called AdoMado. Using Adomado you can send Free SMS to any mobile number in India. First, you need to register to use this service. You would then receive a validation code in your email and mobile. After you confirm these, you are awared 180 credit points for joining AdoMado.

Use Internet and get Rewared

Adomado offers various offers that can be redeemed using the MyOffers page. One of them is sending Free SMS.

Send Free SMS

You just need to click the “Click here” link and a window would open in which you mention the Mobile Number and the text (160 chars) for the SMS. After you send the SMS, 1 credit will get deducted from the total credits in your account. These credits will keep adding when you surf the internet as AdoMado shows you ads. So, these would recycle themselves again and again.

Send Free SMS

As initially, you get 180 Credits for registering. You can send 180 Free SMS in the beginning and as your credits keep on adding, you can send more such Free SMS.

How will the SMS look like on a Mobile

I tried it using my mobile number and sent a test message. On my Nokia E75, the SMS received after using the above service did not contain any ads and was just like any other SMS! So, In my opinion. Its great. Enjoy!

Yups, It would be great if they provided the Sender’s Real number instead of Admado. Simply they didn’t make any advt appear in SMS space but the name says its sent using it.

@Paritosh , @Blogsolute
Yes, the service is good but they do display sender’s name.
As I see it, I dont think using the sender’s name would be profitable for them as they are not showing any ads so the only way they can promote themselves is by using the TM-AdoMado as sender’s name.

I think its fair and a lot better than the hugely popular 160by2.com. You can’t have your cake and eat it too (more so when the cake is free) ;)

Seems good to send free SMS without advertisements. About those credit points, the website mentioned that credit points can be used to get other offers like free gift vouchers. Did those 180 credits you got work for that :)

I did try it but did not redeem any as I don’t think I should spends Rs.1000 only to avail a Rs.200 discount when I do not need the thing at the moment. I hope they work but will confirm once I make a purchase.

I think they provide coupon code to enter at the time of checkout at the vendor’s website.

And since I use Ubuntu Linux I can’t install their software. Anyways probably wouldn’t have done it on Windows either :)

I am jealous here! I have tried countless distros. Mint, Fedora, Ubuntu, Suse, DSL etc but I am not able get them to work. Some issue or the other always comes up. At times its Driver problem, application availability, learning curve, the dreaded Terminal.

I feel Linux hates me! I have given all hopes. :(

Hello folks..

@vaibhav, thanks alot for doing a detailed review of our SMS service. I’m about to create a press section on AdoMado.com and this is the first review link going in there :)

We did toyed with the idea on allowing sender’s ID in the “from” field. Later, decided to go against it because…
- SMS vendors do not allow random ID’s in the “from” field.
- Users can abuse this functionality (imagine someone getting SMS’s with “Priyanka Chopra” in the “from” field).

However, to make sure our users know that who sent them the SMS, we tag the mobile number along with the SMS. This mobile number is verified during our registration process and cannot be faked.

I am myself a linux user. We are working towards a universal-platform installer which will not even work on Linux/Mac but also contain the AdoMado functionality for Google Chrome. Feel free to send in suggestions on what technology we can use for such an installer. Tweet to us at @_adomado

I’m glad that everyone liked our SMS service.

Thanks Vaibhav and everyone else :)
