An Apple Lost!

As most of you would be aware, I had bought a MacBook Pro 13″ recently, after spending 2 days using the same I got to know that Apple had announced upgrades to their MacBook Pro line including MacBook Pro 13″ that I had bought.

The update was announced on 13th April while I purchased my system on 22nd April. It was pretty obvious that I should have got the latest configuration but in reality I had been given the older model with the following configuration :

  • Intel Core 2 Duo 2.23Ghz
  • 2GB DDR3 RAM
  • 160GB HDD

While, the latest one(April 2010) had the following configuration :

  • Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
  • 4GB DDR3 RAM
  • 250GB HDD
Apple India

Half eaten Apple

I was shocked to see such a lapse on part of Apple iStore in Delhi. I wrote a firm email to Apple India expressing my disappointment with the purchase and after a few days, I received a call from the concerned iStore to refund the full amount of the purchase as I was told that although, Apple India had updated their website and announced new updates, India had no stock of the new machines!

So, the new MacBook Pro’s were not available and would take around 30 days for the new stock to arrive. I wonder how Apple could update their website and not have the machines shipped to India at time.

Here’s what I wrote :

Dear Sir

I purchased a MacBook Pro 13″ S/N : SW8008DT166D on 22 April 2010 from New Delhi, Apple iWorld, Kamla Nagar.

It has come to my observation that the Tech specs of the machine do not match with the ones on the Apple India website.

It turns out that I have been sold a previous model rather than the latest version. I would like you to look into the same at the earliest and address this issue. I would request you to replace my MacBook Pro 13″ according to the latest version mentioned at Apple India website.

Regards
Vaibhav Kanwal

I decided to opt for a Dell Vostro V13 instead of waiting a month for the MacBook Pro 13 to become available. It was a sweet deal at half the price of the MAC. I am in love and very happy with my decision.

Interesting!
Mr.Manik Sohal, I thought as mature adults we should see the objectivity of things as a whole instead of just acting like a spoilt 15 year old kid and passing silly comments. Also, its VOSTRO and not Vastro as mentioned by you.

You did not even read the specs properly. Its Core 2 Duo SU7300 instead of the Solo SU350 you are talking about. I’d say you are a third degree bum.

With a price difference of 50% I think Vostro V13 is a perfect choice for the compact form factor it comes in. Low configuration is just adequate for my needs and when I explicitly mention the price of INR 39000 Vs INR 729000 the comparison doens’t exist at all.

I need a laptop that runs cool and MacBook Pro’s reach 75C temperature while the Vostro V13 stays at 49C. With a dedicated graphics card, the temperature would surely exceed above that threashold.Keeping in mind my usage and activities, the onboard Graphics Card would be just fine.

I hope this brings more clarity to you and hopefully you’d refrain from posting child-like comments in future.

Good to know you got your money back!

BTW, the most funny and interesting thing in this post is the image you choose. :)

Cheers!

LOL. Yeah, thanks Deepak.
Actually, the Apple image is kind off ironic.

I ate it and returned it as half-eaten!

That is one serious flaw on apple’s side.Great to know that you got a refund on it. I have no idea how good a MacBook is, but at the same time, a lot of my friends are using vostro and i have personally used it and lived the machine :)

Vostro is great. Nothing beats the compact form factor. V13 has everythig going for it.

Though, Macbook is beautiful both lookwise and to work with, I could not stay without a laptop for Apple to get me an upgraded model.

Also, the sweet price of vostro was irresistable to let go.
