The Adamo/MacBook Killer – My new Vostro V13

So, after returning my MacBook Pro 13″ back to Apple. I was on a hunt for the new laptop for myself. Something which was light, portable, ran cool without posing any serious danger to my lap after prolonged hours of use.

I had noticed that my previous Inspiron 1420 aswell as MacBok Pro (pun intended) would shoot upto 75C after only 2-3 hours of continuous use. I desperately wanted something that wan cool without giving me a sunburn on my lap.

Enter the Vostro V13

I reviewed lots of machines and finally zeroed down on Dell Vostro V13 for its compactness, light weight, slickness and the nice aluminum-alloy outer body. It looked like a younger sibling of Adamo.

Here is one pic of the machine in action at my work desk :

I also made an unboxing video of Dell Vostro V13. Watch the video below or at YouTube.

I never had thought that I would return my MacBook Pro after 2 days and get myself this baby. Its definitely worth it and for the price of INR 39000. It rocks! The configuration is good enough with most of the daily grind and although some might feel its underpowered I feel its just adequate.

After installing Windows 7 and encoding the above video, I think its pretty responsive even under stress and the ULV processor runs fine at 1.3Ghz keeping in mind my earlier 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo used to underclock anyway.

Configuration – Vostro V13

  • Processor : Intel® Core™ 2 Duo SU7300 (1.3GHz, 3M L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) ULV
  • Memory : 2GB (2GX1) DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM, 1 DIMM
  • Display : 13.3 inch Wide Display HD (1366 x 768) with anti-glare
  • HDD : 500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
  • Graphics : Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X4500MHD

I’m loving it!!!!

Congratulations for your ‘killer’ laptop Vaibhav!

Hope it gives you as much satisfaction as the previous Mac book pro did.
