Get ready for WordPress 2.9

Update : WordPress 2.9 has been launched!

WordpressCodex has launched WordPress 2.9 Release Candidate 1 and are inviting testers and users to test the much awaited WordPress version. If all goes well, it should be available within the end of this week itself.

Whats Happening?

WordPress 2.9 is supposed to have a lot of new features and therefore users are keenly awaiting its launch. Its supposed to be easier and make your content more manageable. Codex is currently preparing the naration for the introduction video of WP2.9. Its supposed to be made available within the next 24 hours! WordPress 2.9 is now available for download.

Here are some of the highlights :

  • Introducing WordPress 2.9 (Jazzer Carmen) a release focused on making publishing and managing your content more intuitive than it’s ever been.
  • Images now feel more at home in the publishing process, thanks to the integration of image editing like Crop Support.
  • Media embedding has also undergone a major makeover. Support for the oEmbed standard makes copying and pasting video URLs right into your post super-simple.
  • With the new Trash feature, you can say goodbye to trigger-finger regrets when you delete a post, comment or page. Because now instead of “delete”, you’ll see the word “Trash”.

These were some of the highlights, expect more  in the coming week from Programming Kid.

I’ve been eagerly waiting for Wordpress 2.9 but I’m not gonna go for the RC version. I’m gonna install the final `Stable` version directly. All Hail Wordpress! m/

That would be a good idea but what will happen to WordPress if everyone does the same? Lol. Testers are required though I think not as the cost of messing up with the current working blog. What say?

I can’t wait to get my hands on the new release, but the beta is not an option for me. Especially the better image options and configurations are a big plus.
