I’ve been using my iPod Touch 32GB 3G now for the last 30 days. For me, it does a couple of things which make my life easier : -
- Checks my E-mail
- Let’s me surf the web
- Make VOIP calls using Skype
- Always on IM
- Let’s me manage my To-Do lists
- Check my Blog Statistics
- Keep track of my gym workouts
- Watch streaming videos on YouTube
Did I mention I can watch Movies and listen to music too? Now, for the lesser mortals, I would like to mention the iPod Touch & iPhone applications which make my work easy and more productive. A majority of them are free but a few are paid (let’s hear it for Installous!)
Though, as much as I would like to include some of the jailbreaked applications. I think I would devote another posts for Cydia and Installous.
10+ iPod Touch & iPhone Applications for Productivity
1. Nimbuzz
Multi IM Client with Google Talk, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, Jabber etc. Its a good application to carry out chatting with friends and keep in touch.
2. Analytics
Stay upto date with your Websites / Blogs Statistics using Google Analytics using this application. It uses Google Adsense API.
3. SimpleAdsense
Keep track of your earnings of Google Adsense through this wonderful application.
4. PayPalMobile
PayPal for your iPod Touch / iPhone, check your balance and transaction details. You would need to activate the API access from PayPal and need to get the API key and from your Premier + PayPal account.
5. aNote
Its an awesome To-Do list for creating multiple lists.
6. Wakoopa
The online equivalent for the your PMPO, it suggests you similar applications based on your usage patterns and previously installed apps on your device.
7. Dictionary
An extensive dictionary for your multi touch enabled device. Very functional.
8. Documents 2
With this application, making documents, spreadsheets is easy. I even tried some Excel functions like Sum, Avg and they work without any hiccups. It also syncs to Google Docs online so you can import/export your documents. Very nice.
9.Facebook
The popular social networking application for your iPod Touch / iPhone. In fact, I find this easier and more comfortable than its actual online avatar. Facebook is better on the iPod!
10. Skype
The popular VOIP client for iPhone. I use it often to make Skype-To-Skype calls from my iPod Touch and it works great using the Wifi.
11. WordPress
Makes approving comments on your Blog easy. I do not need to have access to my computer to approve comments and reply to them. You may also Post articles but that’s something a computer will be more handy. Nevertheless, its functional.
12. DropBox
Using DropBox iPhone client, I have access to all my files and can use them anywhere. Productive I’d say.
There are many applications which I feel, I must have missed out on but the above mentioned are the ones I use frequently and they make my work a lot easier and quick. Drop in your suggestions to grow the list.

I need one Ipod TOuch badly
If you decide to get one, only buy the 32GB version. Cause the 8GB might seem attractive but its actually the 2GB with less processor and RAM. It also does not have the Mic.
As said by Srivatsan I also need iPod touch badly. I couldn’t try out those application.
